This Room is Amazing! or The One About Enthusiasm For Life

Holiday inn noteMy daughter wrote a note for the staff at a hotel that we stayed in recently. It said,

‘This room is AMAZING’.

I would have loved to have seen the face of the person who came to clean the room when they found the note. It’s really great when people take the time to say thank you and I hope that my daughter’s note really made their day.

I also love the enthusiasm for life expressed in the note. The room was very good but it wasn’t the best hotel room I have ever stayed in. I was pleased with my stay, but my daughter thought that it was AMAZING!

Children have the wonderful opportunity to discover so many new things each day as they experience life and if we have the privilege of knowing children, we should do all that we can to help keep their awe and wonder alive.

Jesus said that unless we become like children that we cannot enter the Kingdom of Heaven (Matthew 18.2-4). Following Jesus should involve enthusiasm for life and awe and wonder. As we follow him, we should discover more about life and grow in our faith as we journey through life with him .

My daughter’s note has a ps which reads ‘Thanks for letting us stay’. She had had a good experience and she wanted to say thank you. I hope that those of us who are Christians will continually choose to enthusiastically thank Jesus for saving us and for allowing us to stay with and follow him.

Hi, my name is Graeme and I’m married to a very patient wife. We have 4 children, 2 rabbits, a terrapin (and not a lot of peace and quiet!). I’m a Regional Minister for the Eastern Baptist Association in the UK (the views expressed in this blog are my own) and I am especially interested in making Church accessible to people who have no church background and also in how we disciple people in order to equip them to live out their faith in the 21st Century.
