One of the funniest things I have seen in life is a chicken coming out of fast food restaurant that specialized in fried chicken. The chicken much like the one in this picture seemed quite relaxed not knowing how close it was to other chickens who now had less feathers and were not breathing as much as they used to.
How do you feel in life? Do you generally feel happy and confident or do you mainly feel afraid? There are things in life we should be afraid of, but sometimes we choose to be afraid of things that aren’t really worth being scared of and we let those things have a power over us and spoil our lives.
It is highly unlikely that KFC capture, kill and pluck their own chickens in each restaurant (I hope not anyway!), so really the chicken shouldn’t be afraid although he may not want to order food in there. Which reminds me of this other picture I saw on a T-shirt recently.
One of the most famous verses in the Bible is in Psalm 23.4: ‘Even though I walk through valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil‘. I love this thought and the sense of security it shows us we can have, that we don’t have to be afraid even when things seem dark and difficult. What makes me sad though is that often people quote the verse and stop there because the verse goes on to say
For you are with me.
It’s not saying that we shouldn’t be afraid because things might be okay, it’s that we shouldn’t be afraid because God is with us. It’s not about wishful thinking, but rather about confidence in God.
In this picture the cat is safe. Why? I suspect it’s because these dogs are trained and that their master is nearby having issued a command.
God doesn’t promise to keep us out of danger or trouble but he does promise to be with us.
How has God’s presence made a difference in your life?
Are you confident in God? If so, why?
I would love to receive your thoughts on these 3 questions. Please do comment below if you have time.
