Does Jesus Only Visit Once a Year?

church-address-book-jesus-visit_liAs I looked at the Church visitor book, I was surprised to see the following entry:

Date: 25/12/16

Name: Jesus

Address: Heaven

Comments: Keep up the good work!

(You can enlarge the image and see the entry for yourself).

A church must be really in trouble if Jesus only turns up once a year!

If you are a part of a church, what is your expectation of Jesus? Do you hope he is there all the time or just:

When we need help?

When we are worshiping?

When we need to make a decision about an area of church life?

Jesus is with us all year around and I hope that we do look to and acknowledge him both in church and everyday life.

What is it that he wants to say to us? Do we hope it is ‘Keep up the good work’?

I think that ‘Keep joining me in my good work’ might be closer to the truth. I just hope and pray that we are listening.

About honestaboutmyfaith

Hi, my name is Graeme and I’m married to a very patient wife. We have 4 children, 2 rabbits, a terrapin (and not a lot of peace and quiet!). I’m a Regional Minister for the Eastern Baptist Association in the UK (the views expressed in this blog are my own) and I am especially interested in making Church accessible to people who have no church background and also in how we disciple people in order to equip them to live out their faith in the 21st Century.
