A Toy Shop wants me to Dress Up!

dress up as your favourite character smyths emailI received an e-mail from a well known toy shop encouraging me to ‘dress up as my favourite character for World Book Day’.

As I read the e-mail I thought about how strange it was that they seem to be saying that they want me to dress up rather than any children that I have.

It’s also weird that hardly any characters in the picture that they sent started life in books. Perhaps it really should be called world dressing up day or world film & TV day?

The offer to dress up reminded me how easily we can all try to be who we are not.

So, let’s stop pretending to be someone else, instead focusing on being ourselves. If you would like to, you can read more about this in I am Mistagrol?

About honestaboutmyfaith

Hi, my name is Graeme and I’m married to a very patient wife. We have 4 children, 2 rabbits, a terrapin (and not a lot of peace and quiet!). I’m a Regional Minister for the Eastern Baptist Association in the UK (the views expressed in this blog are my own) and I am especially interested in making Church accessible to people who have no church background and also in how we disciple people in order to equip them to live out their faith in the 21st Century.
