How are we ever going to get that down was my dominant thought as we approached. The geocache we were hunting for was in a tree about 15 ft up and it looked impossible to get down.
Some of my children wanted to climb the tree to get it even though there were no branches to use as hand or foot holds.
We did retrieve the geocache and here is how.
We looked at the cache and the tree for a little while and then we noticed that it was attached to a line. A short exploration later and we found the other end of the line and were able to lower the cache down.
The geocache had seemed impossible to retrieve but the solution was actually really, really simple.
There is so much in life that can overwhelm us. Sometimes we face huge problems and we can feel deflated and defeated before we have even tried to solve them.
It’s at times like this when I am especially glad that I follow and all powerful God who loves me.
God loves us and he will help but we need to learn to pause and ask him.
We could have tried to scramble up the tree and it wouldn’t have ended well, but instead we paused and considered what to do.
When we feel overwhelmed and are struggling, I hope that we will take time to stop and to pray rather than switching to ‘headless chicken mode’.
God won’t always do what we ask, but his peace, perspective and leading are invaluable as we face problems in life. You can read more about this in ‘Why did the tortoise cross the road?‘
