The One About Being On A Mission From God

Recently, I went to the commissioning service of William Wade who has been placed by SASRA  as a Scripture Reader in Colchester.

It was great that so many people were at this service and that together as a congregation we were able to pray for and commission William for his important work amongst the armed forces.

William knows that he has been sent by God to work amongst 16 Air Assault Brigade. He knows that he is on a mission from God and he knows that people are praying for him.

How about you?

If you are a Christian…

Do you know that God has sent you?

Do you know that you are on a mission from

Do you know that people are praying for you? (I hope they are anyway!)

I hope and pray that in church life that we can learn to put as much time, focus and effort into commissioning people to serve Jesus in their everyday lives as we do for people who are paid by Christian organizations to do this.

I am so excited for what God is going to do through William and I am so excited for what God can do through you if you choose to partner with and work with him.

mission from God blues brothersThe Blues Brothers is a very silly (but also very funny) film. Elwood repeatedly says that he and his brother are on a mission from God and throughout the film, they don’t let anything get in the way of them fulfilling their mission.

If we are on a mission from God, do we put our all into fulfilling that mission or are we letting other things get in the way?

The really great news is that when God sends us, he also goes with and works with, in and through us.

I love the Chris Tomlin song  ‘Whom shall I fear (God of angel armies)’. It reminds us that God is with us and I have written something about the story that inspired it. This is a video of images I put together to accompany the song to help remind people that God is with us.

About honestaboutmyfaith

Hi, my name is Graeme and I’m married to a very patient wife. We have 4 children, 2 rabbits, a terrapin (and not a lot of peace and quiet!). I’m a Regional Minister for the Eastern Baptist Association in the UK (the views expressed in this blog are my own) and I am especially interested in making Church accessible to people who have no church background and also in how we disciple people in order to equip them to live out their faith in the 21st Century.
