We have a phone in our family that has been a real pain. The poor mobile was so confused about itself that it refused to install anything because it thought it was full when it really had plenty of storage space available.
I have been suggesting to the phone user (who shall remain nameless) for some time that they send it back as it is still less than a year old. The trouble is that sending it back would involve putting it in the post and being without a phone for several days and this is just too much for any teenager to cope with.
Recently they reached breaking point because the phone wouldn’t install ‘Fruit Ninja 3’ (don’t ask!) and so we reset it to its factory settings and since then the phone has worked fine.
YAY!!!! 🙂
A factory reset will solve a problem where the software in a device has become corrupted. the reset simply restores the device to its original state. It puts it back to the way it was before it was corrupted.
Is there is a factory reset for life? Life does wear us down and we also all know what it is to make mistakes and to wish we could start again.
Christians believe that there is a factory reset for life and it involves Jesus forgiving us and giving us freedom.
Some of us are living with things from our past that are really painful and I really do believe that Jesus can set us free. It is not always easy, quick or straightforward but I believe that we can leave the past behind and find new life when we turn to Jesus.
Anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! (2 Corinthians 5.17)
Although we still do have to live with the consequences our actions, Jesus wants to set us free from the damage that has been done to us by ourselves and others.
If you are struggling with your past then you can bring it to God today.
Tell God how you are feeling and give him your pain and then ask him to set you free as you turn away from the hurt and turn towards the love, peace and security that is found in him.
Time for a reset?
