A special card that made me smile

We have been running a new project at Orchard Baptist this past week providing a free meal for the families of children who would have had a free meal if they were at school.

thank you card fish project coverWe have had such amazing fun, but today as we set up I was really feeling tired. Half way through the session one of the families gave me this card and said it was for me and the rest of the team. In that moment of thanks my tiredness melted away :).

Isn’t it great when someone says thank you!

Isn’t it great when someone blesses you!

Who can you thank and bless today?

I used to think it was primarily the role of Christians to show God’s love and generosity to others but now I see things differently.

If we are made in the image of God then every human being has the capacity for love and generosity.

We had set up this project to help families on low incomes. We gave out of what we had to help them and in making this card, one family gave out of what they had right back.

One of the things that was really special about this project was the togetherness that was involved. Each day I felt like I was eating and having fun with people who were more like friends than just people I was trying to help. The families were lovely and grateful and I will miss our lunch times next week. The team running the project was from several different churches and the sense of unity amongst us was a real blessing and encouragement. I think that we made God smile this week!

I love seeing God’s love and generosity at work.

How will you join in Gods work of sharing love and generosity today?

About honestaboutmyfaith

Hi, my name is Graeme and I’m married to a very patient wife. We have 4 children, 2 rabbits, a terrapin (and not a lot of peace and quiet!). I’m a Regional Minister for the Eastern Baptist Association in the UK (the views expressed in this blog are my own) and I am especially interested in making Church accessible to people who have no church background and also in how we disciple people in order to equip them to live out their faith in the 21st Century.
