My Greatest Creation is You

iron man my greatest creation is youTony was miserable, his life was falling apart and he knew that he was slowly dying. He was desperate to find a cure from the poison that was killing him and he had been told there were answers in his father’s research. Hours into reading notes and watching films made by his father, Tony was ready to give up. He felt disillusioned, his hopes had been dashed but in that moment he hears his father say

What is, and always will be, my greatest creation is you.

This scene is from the film Iron Man 2 and I have posted a clip below if you want to watch it for yourself. The scene is the turning point in the film. The words of encouragement from his father are what Tony needs to inspire him to turn things around and to carry on. His father was a successful scientist and Tony is in awe of his achievements and it leaves him speechless as he hears his father say that in amongst all of those amazing accomplishments that his greatest creation was him.

We live in an amazing world and I am in awe of God who I believe created all things. Human beings are distinct from the rest of creation, the Bible says we are made in God’s image or likeness. God has done such amazing things and yet he values us more highly than anything else on this planet. I believe that God would say to each of us that his greatest creation is us.

We each should have amazing self-worth and should feel valuable and yet a lot of us feeling rubbish because we don’t own enough or that we don’t look a certain way. Next time we feel useless or hopeless, I hope we will hear the voice of God our Father reminding us that we are loved and that we have incredible value. During the baptism of Jesus, God spoke from heaven: ‘This is my beloved son. With him I am well pleased’. The remarkable thing about this is that Jesus hadn’t begun to preach or to tell people about his father God. Get this, before he had done or achieved anything, God is pleased with and values Jesus. In the same way that a parent cheers on their child at sports day regardless of their athletic ability I believe God cheers for us.

It’s Fathers day and lots of people love the day, but others find it painful. If you have had a bad experience of a father, just remember that God is the Father. He is everything that a father should be and he wants to bring healing to you and to help you in life.

In the film Tony has a power source in his body that is keeping him alive. Unfortunately the key element in the core is slowly poisoning him and he knows he needs a new element to replace this toxic palladium but he has been unable to find one. Eventually he finds a design for the atomic structure of a new element hidden in his fathers research. He manufactures this element that provides good clean power that helps him to live his life as Iron man without it poisoning him.

I think that there is a lot in this world that is toxic and damaging to our soul and to our lives. God our father has provided wisdom in the Bible to show us how to know him and how to find freedom and a fresh start as we turn away from these things and turn towards him. He longs for us to live life to the full and I believe that is something that is ultimately found in a relationship with God our father.

God values us and wants to be involved in our lives, but I wonder how much we value him?

Do we want to be involved in God’s life?
